📅 Upcoming Events

Happy Summer Jaguar Pride Band Families!

This is the last email you will receive from me until closer to our camps. In this email you will find details for our camps, fair share, and our current calendar that we know through October. I have also added all concerts as known for planning. Please note that festivals, outside of MB, will not be known until end of first quarter and will be added to the calendars as soon as we know. Please know that our schedule is as complete as we are able to make it, that it is possible to still shift.

What to Do to Get Ready for Camp

The one thing we encourage all families to invest in the summer is a good set of athletic shoes. These should not be Converse, Vans, Crocs, Sandals, Keds, or any other flat shoes. These shoes should have good laces to provide good support. Examples of these shoes are any form of running shoes or shoes that you would wear to an athletic event. They should have good arch support and should not be able to be bent in half.

The band will provide all students will a water jug to ensure our members stay hydrated, but it helps to have a good one before that date of distribution. A good insulated tumbler is good to have. Since we are both inside and out on a field, we do not recommend strawed cups for these activities, but water bottles that close securely if knocked over.

Students will need athletic clothing throughout the year. We do have a Stadium Rehearsal attire which is a plain white shirt and black shorts (to be discussed at a further date) to help with cleaning drill, but other times, students should have a variety of clothing that is school appropriate, breathable, and allows for movement.

Camp Schedule

Please know that all camp schedules are mandatory for a spot on the field. We request that all appointments and events please be scheduled outside of our time together. Band camp is the foundation of our marching season and imperative for a student’s success.

We have no meetings until July 7th. At that time, leadership will be meeting at 1 PM to get the room ready and instruments ready for check out for those still needing them. This camp is mandatory for Rookies (new marchers of any grade), all Guard, and all Percussion will have camp that week from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. We enter the fine arts building through the double doors closest to the student lot for this event, not the auditorium. Students should come wearing comfortable clothes, athletic shoes (or marching shoes if you have them) and have water and their instrument with them. An email will come out at July 4th with more details about camp.

All members will be back for in town camp July 13th through 17th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. All members will then go to Out of Town Band Camp at Pine Rock Camp in Prescott July 20th through 24th. I have attached a more detailed schedule of the three camp weeks to this email.

Fair Share This Year

To help clarify the Fair Share this year, we have broken it down into chunks. The amount has not changed, but it goes into different pots to help understand where the money is going. All money should be paid by the allotted dates to the requested accounts as they are used for different things. If you find yourself unable to meet certain deadlines, please email me specifically (not the Band app) and we can work out an extension. If payment amounts are a challenge for your family, please reach out to me and the Boosters as we will work with you for alternate fundraising and/or sponsorships. Please note that if you have more than one student in the band, there is a family discount. The District fee is for every student every year. The first student pays the full $900, the second or additional will be $450. For more clarification or information, please go to the Kick Off Slideshow found here:

https://bchs.band/wp-content/uploads/2026-27-Jag-Kickoff_Final.pdf

Total Amount for the season: $1000 (can be paid ANY TIME starting now through the deadlines)

  • $100 – District Transportation – Bookstore (annual through district, stays on your account until paid)
  • $100 – Booster Pass Through – Digital payment to Boosters (go to Donate on website, or pay in person at camp to Boosters) – Due July 10th – Helps with funds needed during camp and set up for the school year.
  • $300 – Camp Fee (Fair Share #1) – Bookstore – Link on Bookstore portal called “Camp Fee” – Can go through tax credit you wish – Due July 15th to pay for camp
  • $200 – Fair Share #2 – Bookstore – Link on Bookstore portal called Fair Share – Can go through tax credit you wish – Due Aug 21st to pay for season needs and staff
  • $300 – Fair Share #3 – Bookstore – Link on Bookstore portal called Fair Share – Can go through tax credit you wish – Due Sept 18th to pay for season needs and staff

Please remember that Fair Share, while it covers a lot, does not cover everything. Please refer to the slideshow (link above) to see what else needs to be covered.

Donations

To help with camp and season, we are requesting that when students come either the 7th or 13th, every family bring either one case of water, case of gatorade, or one case of individually packaged healthy snacks for students to access throughout the year. This could be fruit snacks, meat sticks, granola bars, trail mix, etc. This should not be candy, sugary snacks, or chips. These are used throughout camps and the school year as students need. We will continue to need these throughout the year.

What You Need to Have Completed BEFORE Arriving to Camp

We have reached out to mostly everyone at this time, but please make sure all three of these are completed before arriving to your first day of camp:

  • BC Band Registration – REQUIRED for a spot on the field 1st movement. Should have been in by June 1st for your number to be sent to the drill writer. If not, you’ll be shadowing movement 1 and added in by movement 2.
  • Recurring Permission Slip – REQUIRED for all travel needed throughout the school year for marching, concert, and more. If you find yourself in a position needing to transport separately for a spefic event, we have a different form to be completed.
  • Medical From – REQUIRED for any athletic activity and overnight events (like camp). This should be updated annually and for each individual student. If your student is on medications, we will communicate at the parent meeting during camp how that is handled for away camp. Please make sure students have inhalers needed for in town camps as well.

Rental Instruments

We know there was a lot going on at our first Kick Off together and I wanted to clarify a point that was a little confusing for some about school owned instruments. There is currently on fee to rent an instrument from the school. There may be (as outlined on the form) that will communicate once a meeting with our new principal occurs. If you borrowed a school instrument, we asked that families put forward money towards the Booster Pass Through as good faith commitment for borrowing school owned property over the summer. If you made any portion of that $100, that money is marked and credited towards your $100 Pass Through, not a separate rental fee. If one is determined to be needed this year, it will go through the bookstore and will show as a “Rental Fee” on your account.

Percussion Packets

Our percussion staff has requested that we send these packets for students to work on over the summer. These will prep you for auditions at percussion camp. If you have further questions, please contact your section leaders (they may reach out to you in advance as well).

Enjoy Your Break!

I hope you all have some wonderful plans and get some rest over the next few weeks before we are back together again. Please know that I too will be recharging and getting ready for the new year by traveling and spending time with my own family. I will not be checking emails frequently at this time and will turn off notifications on the band app. If you have an emergency need or questions, have your student reach out to their section leader (they would have gotten their contact at Kick Off) or if it is adult oriented, feel free to reach out to the Boosters through the Band Page at bchs.band. They, too, will be spending time with families so please be patient as they get back to you. We look forward to another wonderful season together and will see you in July!
