I hope you’ve had a wonderful break during June! We are so excited to see everyone again soon and get this new season started! Thank you to our awesome Boosters/Creek Crew for updating the website and getting communications out over the summer. I spent some time today going over the Band Registration Forms and believe that everyone is now attached in the email communications through MyMusicOffice. If your friend or section mate is not, please have them start by checking their junk/spam folder (mass emails sometimes go there) and make sure it’s not a work or school email. If it is, have them reach out to me via email with their personal email and I’ll get it to them. If you missed a past email, you can now see them on the website. Go to bchs.band > scroll to bottom of the page > Under “Resources” Click “Band News” and all past emails from me and the boosters are here for reference.
Camp Dates: Who Comes and When
July 7-9
- 1:00 All Leadership comes in for set up/prepping the room (this is DMs, Managers, SLs, and FAs). This is scheduled for all three days, but will only be used as needed.
- 4:00 All Percussion, Colorguard, and Rookies
- “Rookies” – Anyone new to marching with the BCHS Band, even if you are an upper classman or if you marched in another school.
- Leadership all stays for this camp as well. Managers will have some tasks to complete during sessions. Please ask about 2nd and 3rd day if you are needed after initial set up is done if you are not a Guard or Percussion Member.
- Students will enter through the doors nearest mini auditorium, not the entrance for the auditorium. We will have students there for the 4:00 entrance to greet you. All students will come into the Auditorium.
- Purpose of this camp: Establish fundamentals, both playing and marching the BCHS way. Distribute instruments. Get to know leadership. Set up routines for the new season. Balance instrumentation for the field.
- Before you arrive: Please have completed the Registration Form, Medical Form, and Permission Slip before entering Campus. Need these items before we start.
- We will have a Booster Board member ready to accept Booster Pass Through if you still need to make that payment or have some additional questions that they may be able to help with.
- What to Bring: Water Bottle (big one, not a little disposable please), socks and athletic shoes (no sandals, crocs, flip flops, converse, vans, etc), Instrument (or contract for school instrument), Mouthpiece, Reeds, and anything else to make your instrument work. If you do not have an instrument or a contract, we will have them for you tomorrow. It cannot leave the property until a contract is signed.
July 13th – 17th: In Town Camp at School
- All Students
July 20th – 24th: Out of Town Camp in Prescott
- All Students
A Few Last Thoughts
- Please review the Fair Share information in past emails or on the website.
- WATER! This is the MOST important thing during the season. Remember to hydrate the day before, not just the day of. The water you drink today is for tomorrow. Try to drink a minimum of a gallon a day during these camps. If you don’t, you’ll feel things like headaches, fatigue, nausea, and more.
- Healthy Meals! The “Fuel” you put into your body is what you burn during the athletic activities. Please try to avoid things like fast food, junk food, pizza, sugary drinks like energy drinks and soda and replace them with good protein, vegetables, and grains.
- Get involved! We have a great group of students here ready to make this marching season a wonderful experience for you! Meet new people, be involved with our activities, and make memories that will last a lifetime! Parents, this means you, too! Our Creek Crew is a great group of parents that love supporting the activity their kids love. They often have just as much fun as the kids do and we can’t do it without you! Please sign up for a shift when you see the sign ups.
- Forms can be found here: https://bchs.band/forms/
We look forward to seeing some of you tomorrow!
